Nature’s Wisdom of Imperfection: Webinar with Yogini Shambhavi

Nature’s Time Cycles

If Nature was perfect, it would hold its perfection throughout the year without any change. It is the surprise of impermanence which holds us in awe if we hone our skills of perception.

Nature’s time cycles and rhythms have many hidden teachings and messages. Every Season has its mysticism and magic that are short lived and if you don’t capture their essence in the moment you miss out on their profound lessons.

Transformative change and deeper awareness is the spiraling power of the Yoga Shakti. Shakti can never confine us to a box, formula, technique or screen in which we lose our inner flow, or to some book, institution, ideology or dogma as the last word or final solution. That dynamic inner flow of Shakti is our true being and becoming simultaneously, not simply an outer fixation resisting movement and change, or carved into a form that is convenient for us to possess.

Nature does not seek perfection as defined by the human mind but moves in a natural creative transformative flow like water from a waterfall to a stream and to a wide river merging into the ocean.

If we examine the world of nature carefully, we can easily see that there is no perfect flower, leaf or snowflake, no perfect lightning flash and cloud or wave. Nature’s variability is its beauty, which follows creative flows, and is not in any fixed forms.

If we examine the world of nature carefully, we can easily see that there is no perfect flower, leaf or snowflake, no perfect lightning flash and cloud or wave. Nature’s variability is its beauty, which follows creative flows, and is not in any fixed forms.

Nature’s Time requires ongoing change with its seasons and currents but is never limited to a formula or simply repeats itself. Relative to our human species, there is no perfect human being whether in terms of physical appearance, action, expression or intelligence. The changing movement of time demands our own inner changes as well, which is the basis of maturity.

Nature’s Creativity and the Yoga Shakti always has the freedom of ever-new expression, organic variability and dynamic unfoldment beyond the limitations of any artificial boundaries, fixed straight lines, sharp corners, or final modifications in order to be perfect or fixed at any limited time, place or appearance in the outer world which all have their nuances.

The Yoga Shakti as such a transformative force of nature is related to the lightning, clouds and rain, even volcanoes. Within us the Yoga Shakti is the living and changing force of transformation in body, senses, mind and consciousness, unpredictable but engaging in its energy that can take us from the core of the Earth to the Sun in the sky at the level of our awareness.

When we seek to impose artificial boundaries and standards upon ourselves trying to impose some artificial appearance of perfection, we lose our connection to the Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space, the five elements, and their ever-new overflowing dances. We alienate ourselves from nature and its currents of transformation, renewal and rest.

We must learn to reclaim our inner creativity that ever brings in transformation, a newness in harmony with nature’s flows and rhythms, not just an attempt to be different.

There is no perfect cosmic movement as movement implies changes in new directions, levels and dimensions and to new goals or destinations.

There is no perfect appearance as appearance must be part of the changing, living world, not just a fixed picture hung on a wall. Continual change is the essence of nature, life, creativity and spirituality and brings renewal, not just aging or decay.

Today we live in a world of artificial and preprogramed virtual, media and advertising appearances. Even our facial expressions are altered by treatments or special artificial lighting to show our best or perfect look, even though this is contrived and not natural.

Such an artificial world and appearances removes us from our natural world, and cuts us off from Nature’s flow, changes, seasons, rhythms, currents and unexpected magical transformations. Yet it also removes us from our human sensitivities and striving that helps us move beyond the limitations of our previous actions to a new life and awareness.

Our pursuit of outer success, power and perfection is driving us to become like robots as any fixed or final perfection is only possible at a mechanical level, not as an organic unfoldment and even then, will wear out over time. Achieving one’s social goals whether for wealth or recognition only removes us from our true reality, even as we pursue the false dictates of society.

Yoga Sadhana is about awakening the Yoga Shakti at a creative level of deeper perception not according to some fixed appearance or effort to be outwardly perfect but to be inwardly aware and connected to all. It takes us to new dimensions of sensitivity, perception and creativity.

The pursuit of perfection at any level is a demand of the imperfect ego wanting more prominence for itself. In Yoga, life should be an offering to the Divine, seeking what is the highest at any given moment, recognizing that Divine essence in all of life and nature.

We human beings have withdrawn from the greater universe and the ground on which we stand, into our own little boundaries that we seek to control. What we truly need is to open up to greater currents of unfoldment, not becoming perfect in one set of boundaries or another that isolate us from the forces of transformation that pervade the whole of life.

May we learn to cherish Mother Nature, Her Shakti and sacred elements to achieve our inner dharma and higher perspective of life.
